The Weekend

Dave shoveled a lot this weekend ~
16 cubic yards of dirt are off the driveway
And in the evergreen garden behind the new wall
Hurrah! We had a great evening and dinner with Jules on Friday
(it had been forever since we had seen her and the the boys!)

On Saturday, Drew shoveled dirt with Dave for several hours before he worked
and then Jules and the boys helped Saturday mid-day before the rains came down.
Great team efforts!

Saturday morning was water aerobics followed by a weekend of cleaning, finally finishing laundry (I have been washing non-stop since Monday night), and running errands, lots of errands. Trey's and Sean's new "big boy bedrooms" are all organized, decorated, and fabulous. The boys played and played and played ~ lots of plays. At a friend's urging, I submitted my "working moms" post below to Focus on the Family for consideration of publication.

Saturday night, we went to Julie & Harp's for a slide show presentation by Hanna of her trip with Royal Servants this summer for one month in Nepal. It was a precious evening with neighbors and a blessing to hear about Hanna's adventures with the Lord. Wow, what a life enhancing trip this was for the students and those whose lives they touched.

Sunday School was very special as were church services Sunday Night. Dave and Trey watched football, read, and napped Sunday afternoon while Sean was at Christian's for the afternoon meeting, loving, and playing with their new kitten, "Opie." I tried to get my laptop to talk to the TV ~ that hasn't worked out yet unfortunately. Nonetheless, I'm continuing on my building of a neat powerpoint of our photos from China, some narrative, and some video clips. I also want to learn how to add music in. This weekend I also started on the homework for the two bible studies I'll be involved in this Fall (ladies bible study at church on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays and ladies bible study in our neighborhood once a month). Oh, and also coordination with some other parents to help with the meal for Wednesday night when we have youth missional community at our home. Yes, it was a busy time this weekend.

For cafe after church Sunday night, we served an awesome salad bar with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and pudding for dessert. I was able to visit with several people from our China trip and other good friends. Pastor Paul spoke about Solitude, Community & Ministry (in that order, thank you very much) as the tools for transformation. His call to Solitude with the Lord was very challenging (in a good sort of way) for everyone I talked with.

Sharing our lives with our friends was undoubtedly a highlight of the weekend. Feeling lonely these past several days was a lowlight for me. Ryan having left for college is finally sinking into my heart and I'm feeling the hole. The tears are finally here.

Miss you darling. Live well. Love, Mom
