We should embrace the journey, with its twists, valleys, deserts, and sufferings ...
Because these are the things that make the sweet things, very sweet indeed.
Without the dark, there is no light.
Without the misery, there is no gratitude.
Without the challenge, there is no lesson.
Without the despair, there is no relief.
Without the choice, there is no true love.
There is no room in an authentic life for the mask (or veil) of "All is well."
Our pain, suffering, and sorrows are the events that scream of reality and living.
They're the things that truly alert us to our blessed lives,
they're the process which allows us to develop hearts of true thanksgiving.
There is beauty in our entire journey, even as we walk through the shadows...
May we embrace and share our struggles as we grow together with those around us.
Amen.
But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory,
are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Hmmm... I vote for embracing suffering and pain when it is because of persecution, but claim power over it when its not!
Suffering is the opportunity for a miracle to be performed, not a chance to wallow in it further I think...
