If no one is following, then by definition, there really isn’t anyone leading. Effective leaders greatly value and have the ability to mentor and inspire others to perform and achieve their personal and team "best.” At its core, leadership involves getting things done, not to people or for people, but through people. Absent fear and coercion, successful leadership only occurs with great power, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team. Leaders enhance this through inspiration, motivation, training, and (yes) pruning; all of which reflect a high value for their followers, their team, and success.
