Conflict!
It's not what we experienced, it was what we learned about :)
We had an awesome Lasagna dinner with salad and bread provided by Colleen & Trevor ... the teens just loved it last night (thank you guys so much!!) And they loved dinner together, visiting, building, jumping on the tramp, and taking Dan on in basketball!
And I was blessed with an unexpected & sweet hot cacao gift from Ally :)
Melissa led our study on conflict ... whether we are the offender or the offended, it's our responsibility to handle conflict directly and with respect. She shared with us many great verses providing our guidance for deepening our relationships as we address conflicts, and many great examples and encouragements from her own life ...
Matthew 18:15-17 ~ A Brother Who Sins Against You ~ "If your brother sins against you go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses'. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
Matthew 5:23-24 ~ "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."
Proverbs 25:9 ~ If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man's confidence.
Proverbs 12:16, 18 ~ A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
And the teens created and performed skits demonstrating insults and poor ways to respond and betrayal by trusted friends and the biblical way to address the conflict ... what hams we have!
